About Avtar Athwall

Title: Town Councillor

Avtar has called Kesgrave home since 2010 and loves being part of a close-knit community where families can grow and thrive. A proud grandmother of four, with her two daughters and their families also living locally, she cares deeply about making Kesgrave a welcoming and supportive place for everyone. Since joining Kesgrave Town Council in 2016, Avtar has enjoyed getting involved, meeting residents, and helping where she can. She serves on the Planning & Development and Community & Recreation Committees and is also co-founder and co-ordinator of the Kesgrave Forget Me Not Café, established in 2019. Alongside this, she is a Trustee of Kesgrave & District Help Centre, a member of the Kesgrave Library Community Group and the Patient Participation Group at Embrace Medical Centre, and a volunteer at Kesgrave Community Centre, where she supports events such as Chinwag and Time Together Tuesday. With a professional background in education across secondary, higher, and research settings, Avtar brings both experience and compassion to her work in the community.
